After graduating law school, Lefkofsky and a friend from college bought an apparel company, Brandon Apparel, with money they borrowed from family. The two went on to create Starbelly in 1999. Starbelly was an Internet company that sold promotional items. In 2000, Halo Industries bought the company, and Lefkofsky was hired as CEO.
